A few things to point out that is not in the build on the demo website:

    * Users will be able to catalogue images and favourite other images into their own catalogues.

    * You'll be able to link images directly from the internet rather than upload

    * You'll be able to social share (twitter, facebook) a particular image when viewing it

    * Some more tweaks to UI updating needs to happen, e.g. the postback after adding an image will go away.

I played around with the interface, and the profile wall, it all seems to work great.

On issue I think will come up, is the ability to add multiple files at 1 time.  I know this affects the process that you currently have in place, before your looking for the description (Tell me about this picture).  It would be a little more difficult if you had 20 pictures to tell about the image.

The multiple upload function currently available with Simple Gallery was a great feature, since users could upload a trip they went on, into a directory, and just let the file upload process finish.

I think to have the process, recognize if less than 2 pictures, display the (Tell me about this picture) jquery pop up.  If more than 2 images, take you to a page, setup, where its just a Title/Description box for each picture.  Similar to the process, other social media sites currently function.

Thats really the only issue I have seen thus far with the app.  I like your other future items list as well.

The multi-upload might be something that I address down the track, but I really want the user to describe the image (BTW, that step 2 is not complete yet as you will also have to categorise).

Simple Gallery will also be upgraded in the process so it will meet the needs for the traditional gallery e.g. trip photos. Social Images is about the social experience of photos. Like most things, I'll have to see how it works in practice.

This is great! Even better if it would support videos ( only embeded code or links ).

Images are the first priority - I may consider video down the track but the pure vision is images at the moment.

I am so excited about your modules Scott. I can't wait to test and implement into some of our upcoming projects.  All your modules rock.. but this is the icing, no, the cherry, NO the sprinkles.. whatever, on top of the already delicious cake!

    Great work...

When I play with the example, it would be nice from the profile view, if you could go and click back to the image and use jquery to blow it up.  Currently it seems like that aspect is not connected currently.

The profile currently goes to the user profile page where it shows the journal.

The module will allow you to create a new tab on the user profile page and drop an instance on there. It will then show only that user's images when you click through.

    Hey Scott

Looking forward to this module! I wanted to make a comment  about dnn social integration and wanted to see what you and others thought. I think any app being built going forward should have the capability to be either added to the activity feed child pages or group detail child pages and not only be integrated with the journal but the user or group.  For instance, If I created a child page under group details and added this module to the page and enabled users of the group (based on group role ) to add images to the module and have the security settings (private, community, all etc) to drive who sees what that would be awesome. Same goes for member level. If news article, gallery and PA had this, just imagine :)

Reason I bring this up is that I notice that a lot of develops are enabling their modules to post to the journal but that's just half of the value.

Forgot to acknowledge -- I know that this module handles the user but wanted to know if you had plans for the group as well....

Scott, I think we're in a similar configuration with our sites. It might be easier if I let you login, but we use individual (role based) pages for groups since there are many 3rd party modules on the page, like NA, UVG, Events Calendar, reports, etc. So if the gallery can be filtered similar to the NA modules, that works for us.

@teambound - That is the plan - it currently only works based on "user" and "taxonomy" (boards). This is a non-group way of looking at things. I have been thinking of the idea of when you post an image, you can either post it to a board OR a group you are in (of course if you are on a group page, it will automatically go to the group).

I went with taxonomy to begin with because not everyone will have a group for the way they want to organise images.

You can also drop the module on a user profile page and see a filtered list of images for that user.

The question is - should a group have boards as a way to organise images?

@Daniel - I'm aware of the group functionality and use case around it - I have this need on a site I run also.

    Hey Scott

A group with boards....  that would be cool. I need to learn more about taxonomy..

The taxonomy is just like categories - just stored in a central place in DNN so there is potential for modules to share the same list. It really isn't anything much more then that.

Hi Scott - Will you be able to click an image in the journal/wall feed and have it Lightbox and be viewable or is this only for albums and other images?  Also, when do you anticipate being live with this?  Thanks!

Trax, you can see the live feed here:

    http://social.ventrian.com/Activity.aspx

I would need to inject some script in the journal feed to make it poppable -- this isn't in the build as of yet.

I'm hoping to release a new build on the weekend with some structural changes around categorisation.

Ok, so you can click and enlarge the image, just to its own new page, but not poppable yet?  Is that part of Social or simple or both?

BTW - thanks for the quick reply
