I fully support this. Ventrian's licensing is perfect as it is. License activations are a major pain to deal with; they're a risk to business, and it often puts me off buying modules from other developers. Perhaps one could alleviate the trial-versions question by creating demos that better demonstrate the full functionality of the modules, and also provide a shortlist of live sites that show the modules to good effect.

Good point Rob, I'm working on new "product tours" at the moment.

I fully agree with Rob and would not like to see the current licensing change.

I disagree. There are number of time you first try to test feature of the product before buying and integrating in the Application.
Like I have to try certain featuresas mentioned in my post http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Forums/forumid/92/threadid/475102/scope/posts.aspx
I have tested LiveBlog, Ifinity, sunblognuke without any such licensing need. Now when i were redirected here with the knowledge that my need MIGHT be fullfull here I were stumble with there is no availability of anything for testing your requirement.
Just Pay and try if it fullfill then it is fine otherwise thank you for the buying our product for checking at your requirement.

I think that Ventrian modules are now an undeniable necessity for those working with DotNetNuke plus a very reasonable price.

Those who have doubts about their validity is definitely a beginner to dotnetnuke and lose precious time for the development of trial versions removing it from the improvement of these modules would be a poor choice.

One thing that could be done to attract new customers is to make granular access to modules giving you the chance to buy, for example, only one module at a time to really small price or alternatively do as suggested by Rob.

Scott, very thanks for your great products and support on them!

What I am afraid of is that Scott will follow Bruce to DNNCorp ;-) It seems they are buying up all the good stuff for the pro versions of DNN, and who can blame them. If that happens we will have lost another of the best.

But this would be very unfair if Scott has come so far is also thanks to our contribution and support given over the years, and I think it can not but take this in consideration!  I'm sure that he will not fail this and he will take into serious account the moral obligation towards us!

    Scott, have you say!

    Hello Everyone,

If you look at the two acquisitions for DnnCorp of active modules and url master, both are strategic acquisitions. One for the base of a social platform and the other for core functionality that has been missing (urls).

It wouldn't make any sense for DnnCorp to acquire stand alone module vendors.

Besides all that - I'm quite happy with the way things are progressing with modules like social images and the work I am doing with F5 Networks which is a big user of ventrian modules

Karman - I'll respond to your email about trial requests separately.

Kamran, I can tell you already that Ventrian News Articles is better than the modules you've looked at. A key feature of blogging is decent image handling and only Scott's module and the one by Easy DNN Solutions are any good. Mandeep's one fails completely in that regard. The Ventrian one also has a much better license, does not require activation and is thus far safer to use long term, plus the source comes with it. I have most of the modules mentioned but I always go back to Ventrian News Articles in the end. Save yourself further drama and buy Scott's Gold subscription. It's well worth it.

    Hello Kamran,

In fact, that's rather simple and should be resume in one sentence: "Ventrian modules" should be part of the core system... They are just and simply a must have. So, there is not reason to ask yourself "should I buy it". It's simply a very low subscription for a very good product.
Have a look to "old snowcovered"... Now, every single module cost the double of all Scott module !!...

Kamran, Just bite the bullet and pay up. It's small change for what you get. If you are not happy then don't renew. I think I am one of Scott's early customers and have renewed annually without question. His modules keep getting better and better and he provides excellent support as well :-)

I know its only $50 which I would agree is a very reasonable price, but why would I spend my money on something that I don't know whether or not will fulfil my requirements? I have a client who wants a property agent module of which there are a few on the market, and without being able to log in and test it out, I wont be able to know. This article was written in 2012 and while I appreciate that this isn't top priority at least a demo where you can log in would be appreciated.

    Hello Kaizen,

I will say than what I said 1 year ago: that's rather simple and should be resume in one sentence: "Ventrian modules" should be part of the core system... They are just and simply a must have. So, there is not reason to ask yourself "should I buy it". It's simply a very low subscription for a very good product.

Of course, you can still wait for a demo, and not buying Ventrian module, but you would just loose your money in other product.
