Download the latest version of Simple Gallery at ventrian.com.
Note: Updates are only available to those with an active subscription, you want to pick the file that says Install/Upgrade.
1. Meeting Module Prerequisites
You must be running at least DotNetNuke 4.5.5+, and yes, this does mean it will work on DNN 5 & 6!
To confirm what version of DotNetNuke you are running, go to Host -> Host Settings (when logged in as a super user) and examine the area of the page shown below.
You must have given write access to the ASP.NET worker process account for /Portals, /DesktopModules and /Bin directories of your DotNetNuke installation. In Windows 2003 and later, this is generally the Network Service account, for Windows 2000, it is the ASPNET account. To confirm what account ASP.NET is running, you can view this in Host -> Host Settings (as show in the screenshot below).
Note: When you installed DotNetNuke, it would have verified that these permissions existed and if you have installed other modules, you are generally OK.
Simple Gallery has been tested to work on both Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
Note: Some modules may also work on Microsoft SQL Server 2000, but have not been extensively tested on this platform.
2. How do I install the Simple Gallery?
Download latest module
You may download the latest module at either http://www.ventrian.com/downloads.aspx or http://www.snowcovered.com/ (dependant on where you purchased the module). Updates are only available to those with an active subscription. If you are downloading from ventrian.com, you want to pick the file that says Install/Upgrade.
Login as a superuser
Login to your portal with a 'superuser' account, this account is typically called 'host' and navigate to host -> extensions.
Install new module
Select 'Install Extension Wizard' from the action menu.
Select "Browse..." to pick your downloaded file from the earlier step, and then select "Next"
Review the package information and click next.
Review the relevant release notes.
Review the module license.
Review the installer log.
You will now be presented with an install log, quickly scan it for any messages in red. If there are any messages in red, you should copy them to a word document and contact ventrian support.
3. Checking that everything installed
To verify that your install has completed, navigate away from the installation page (e.g. to the homepage of your site) and look at the top control panel for the new modules (as seen in the screenshot).
If the module appears in there, everything went OK. If not, contact ventrian support.
